Hojta is an iPhone app that turns the Sonos speakers you already own into a home intercom. Hold a key, say it, let go, and it plays in the room you picked. It records, then sends, so there is no echo, and the music comes back afterwards. Every Sonos room on the Wi-Fi shows up by itself. No account, no cloud, works without internet. The first room you send to is free, for good; Whole House unlocks every room and the ALL key in one purchase, with no subscription. Hojta is made by David Åblad, an independent developer in Sweden.

200-word version

Hojta is an iPhone app that turns the Sonos speakers you already own into a home intercom. Hold a key, say it, let go, and it plays in the room you picked.

It records, then sends: the voice arrives a moment after you let go, so it is never live and there is no echo. The music stops for the Message, which plays at one Message Volume, and then carries on where it was, at the room’s own volume. Messages run up to 30 seconds. Every Sonos room on the Wi-Fi shows up by itself, with its name from the Sonos app, and the ALL key sends one Message to every room.

No account, no cloud, works without internet. Each Message is deleted from the phone once the speaker has played it.

Hojta is built like a piece of hardware: a tiled cream panel, round keys, an orange-capped knob and a dark LCD with green type. It speaks nine languages.

The first room you send to is free, for good. Whole House unlocks every room and the ALL key in one purchase, shared with your family, with no subscription.

Made by David Åblad, an independent developer in Sweden.
